“Richard LeBlond has an extraordinarily congenial voice and the rare gift of making anything he writes about interesting.”–Robert Finch, author of A Cape Cod Notebook
EastOver Press is proud to announce the publication of Homesick for Nowhere, a collection of essays by Richard LeBlond.

LeBlond has faced down a bear in Labrador, chased a spadefoot toad through the soaking undergrowth, shilled for an auction house run by men he called Laurel and Hardy, choked down home-preserved seal-ribs on the Strait of Belle Isle, and witnessed a rare performance by the leading rake and scrape band in the Bahamas.
In short, LeBlond has had quite a life, and he’s written about it here with wit and compassion for the foibles and blessings of his fellow humans. He’s also thought quite a bit about what it means to grow older and how the writing life has helped him as he ages into his ninth decade. This is an absorbing and entertaining book from a first-rate writer.
“Writing with clarity and candor, Richard LeBlond has a sharp eye for the struggles and triumphs arising from the interactions of people and nature in the landscape of North America. His genial acceptance of the absurdities and delights of our continent makes these short essays a joy to read. LeBlond reveals himself as the best sort of storyteller, and an engagingly witty travel companion. Any reader will finish this book wishing for more—and perhaps making some travel plans! A great debut from LeBlond.”–Walter M. Robinson, author of What Cannot Be Undone
LeBlond is a retired field biologist. His essays and photographs have appeared in many U.S. and international journals, including Montreal Review, Weber – The Contemporary West, Concis, Lowestoft Chronicle, Trampset, and Still Point Arts Quarterly. His work has been nominated for “Best American Travel Writing” and “Best of the Net.” Homesick for Nowhere, which was selected as a winner of the 2022 EastOver Prize for Nonfiction, is his first book.
